MUSEUM PROJECT
A major goal of the Society is to establish and operate a high quality museum at Shaver Lake devoted to the rich history of the Central Sierra Nevada, specifically the area between Yosemite National Park to the north and Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks to the east and south. The major exhibits will encompass early Indian culture, early settlers, grazing, logging, hydroelectric development, water resources, natural history and recreation. The museum will be an educational resource for our children that will convey respect for native American Culture, an understanding of geology, natural history, engineering, agriculture, forest management, wildlife management and the use of public lands for recreational purposes and the preservation of the mountain environment for future generations.
